Opportunities

Zimbabwe Educational Trust greatly benefits from the time, effort and dedication of its volunteers. Whatever your interest or area of specialty (if you have one) there will be a role for you within our organisation. Here are some of the areas that our volunteers currently work in:

Social Media (Upkeep of platforms such as Twitter and Facebook; providing up-to-date content and news, using social media platforms to promote our organisation and expand our audience, and using platforms to gain donations, recruit volunteers and more)

Fundraising (Conducting research into various funding bodies and assessing how suitable they are for a funding application from ZET; Contributing to the development of funding proposals; Sending off funding proposals; Development and upkeep of current and new fundraising platforms, such as Global-Giving and Givey, to raise funds and awareness for ZET’s activities; Putting on events, street fundraising, corporate partnerships and more)

Communications and Marketing (including website content)

Monitoring and Evaluation (Assisting in defining the frameworks through which we judge our projects; Analysing data (qualitative and quantitative) to show project effectiveness)

Event Planning and Management

Accounting and Finance

Why us?

At ZET, we offer a great deal of flexibility to our volunteers. You don’t have to stick to just one role; some overlap, and you are free to change role if you fancy doing something different. Furthermore, if your area of specialty/interest is not covered in these more specific roles, there is the scope to discuss with the Operations Manager a role that is more suitable to you. We want to make sure that you enjoy your experience and get something out of it, so don’t hesitate to get in touch and find out how else you can get involved.

We are a small charity, and this makes our volunteers’ experience unique; their work has a big impact and volunteers are given genuine responsibilities. For this reason, volunteering at ZET is a great way to enhance your CV and boost your career prospects (if you happen to be at that stage in your career); such hands-on experience will help you develop a range of skills in your area of interest. Not only this, but volunteers work closely with ZET’s Operations Manager, gaining a broad and deep insight into the work of an international development, non-profit organisation. This makes volunteering for ZET particularly suitable for those with an interest in International Development/International Affairs and a career in the third sector, or someone who wants to gain first-hand experience in the operations of a non-profit organisation.

Not to mention that whilst benefitting from this, you will simultaneously be working for a great cause (see our website for more on the vital work we do and the impact we make)! Where and when? Volunteer meetings take place every second Wednesday from 3pm-5pm in the local Leeds area. If this is not convenient for you, working from home is also possible. Trustees

We are currently looking to recruit new Trustees to sit on ZET’s Board. This is a very exciting time to be involved in ZET’s work as we look to expand our programmes over the coming years.
